BIOGRAPHY

He was a friend of Ettore Soffritti's, from whom he received models and advice necessary to begin the construction of his early violins. He can be considered his apprentice. Although he had excellent manual skills and was a talent devoted to lutherie, he worked as a luthier as a second job: he farmed land as a sharecropper and, during the winter months or in the evening at home, he built instruments.
He has made many instruments, especially violins, a few cellos and a quartet, after Stradivari and Guarnieri: some were medium and others of exceptional quality. Some works have passed as Soffritti's, but still recognizable.
He also dedicated himself to restoration, remaining limited to the local market.
His instruments followed the models of the Ferrara school, with beautiful varnish, generally yellow-orange and yellow-brown, with an aloe background. He worked in Via Darsena.
